Photography has been my life.
Now art has become my life.

MY BACKGROUND

I was born in Melbourne, Australia. My photography began when my Dad (a commercial artist) gave me a box camera when I was 15. My professional career began in photographic sales, ultimately working as sales manager for the importers of Canon cameras.

I decided to pursue advertising photography as a full-time profession and completed a Diploma in Advertising through RMIT University, then made the big leap into my own photography studio in Melbourne which led to some wonderful photographic opportunities.

When digital photography arrived I set up Australia’s first digital image library, Australian Scenics, which proved to be incredibly successful. This led to local and international travel assignments, shooting tourist destinations and landscape photography.

I had always admired my father’s drawings and remember as a child often being in trouble at school for drawing during classes. I loved art and geometry, as it was all about shapes and angles. Over the years, clients would often say ‘your photographs look more like paintings,’ so I decided to use my technical and creative skills to produce stylised versions of my favourite images. And have now created my own brand of stylised art which I have called my ‘Signature Selection’.

I am strongly influenced by the work of Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and the Dutch Baroque painter Johannes Vermeer. The Fibonacci principles also play a big part in the way I structure my images. I strive for simplicity, creating images that evoke a sense of intrigue.
